Project objectives

The complex, to be used as a reception area, is located adjacent to the Humanitas oncology hospital park. It is part of a master plan that organises the four buildings of the University, namely the teaching area, the research area, the HUB and the reception area.
The client specifically requested that the project be processed in a BIM environment, categorising and indexing the components, while maintaining control over the materials, quantities, processes and technologies to be used on site. Very high standards of energy and acoustic classification were required.

Our intervention

The planned building consists of two multi-storey blocks (6 levels above ground) and a connecting body on the ground and first floors. On the ground floor are the common areas: cultural and educational services, recreational services, support services, access and distribution areas, car parking and technological services. On floors 1 to 5 there are residences; only on the first level, in correspondence with the connection between the two residential towers, there are some areas for cultural services.
The entrance hall faces south onto a communal area, which is reached by a stone path from the access road and car park. The residential area includes 13 types of accommodation divided into 3 macro-categories: rooms with bathrooms, mini-apartments and integrated core. The study of minimum spaces and the use of residences formed the basis of the design criteria. The aim was to provide the tenants with the greatest possible comfort combined with diversification and personalisation of the spaces.
A ventilated façade clad with aluminium panels on the ground floor and fibre cement on the upper levels is planned. The solution guarantees excellent energy and acoustic standards. In particular, the values of the latter significantly exceed the current regulatory minimums. Finally, the bathrooms in the wards are made of prefabricated cells placed in a sliding position, with the cavities oriented towards the corridors in order to improve maintainability and reduce construction time and costs.
