Presented together with Studio Akkerhuis, which oversaw the architectural design, the project overseen by the Stancanelli Group together with architect. Francesco Bottaro, is part of a broader strategy of urban regeneration, envisaging for the new Management Centre of the Sicilian Region a space capable of opening up to citizens and attracting them with its beauty, positioning itself as a new point of visual and landscape interest, as well as a flagship of innovation and modernity.
Our Intervention
The project for the new Management Centre of the Sicilian Region proposes an integrated system between urbanity and nature, designed to function all day and every day of the year, consisting of a tower, a podium and a hub. Integration with the surrounding space is achieved by harmonising the aesthetics of the building with the natural element of the territory, the sea and the mountains. The tower, composed of 10 compartments on three levels, would have housed the offices and been interspersed with three narrow levels, designed to house the canteen and a museum of Sicilian natural history. The podium, on the other hand, would have housed additional departments and a hall also accessible to the public, with commercial activities, fitness, catering and a conference centre. To complete the structure, the hub would have been a public place for meetings, exchanges and services, with school facilities, municipal offices, conference rooms, a medical centre and library. On the ground floor, a large space would also have allowed for the installation of a covered market.
